After switching various types of coffee makers for many years, I came across the Hamilton Beach 43253 Ensemble 12-Cup Coffeemaker. This coffee maker looks great with its sleek designs. However, the coffee maker comes only in red .This is okay with me as it fits my kitchen top which is filled with other red appliances. The machine also comes with an easy to use control panel with a digital display.

The coffee maker also makes coffee faster than most coffee makers, which is really vital in running my restaurant. Customers hate it when their coffee is slow. The quality of the coffee is also better than most of its kind. One thing to note is that the coffee beans have to be grinded separately; the machine doesn’t grind it for you. This means you probably have to get your own grinder which is in fact better for you as well. Coffee makers that grinds the beans for you usually leaves a mess.
Speaking of messes, I also find the Hamilton Beach 43253 Ensemble to be really clean. It doesn’t leave messes like other coffee makes, provided you do not overfill it. The soft plastic lid can be removed and cleaned easily. Its pitcher’s mouth is as wide as its base, making it easy to clean it.
The glass carafe that comes with the coffee maker is easier to handle than most glass pots. The handle is made to stay cool all the time. The glass carafe also has measuring marks at the side for easy measuring and a drip-free pour sprout. Unlike many coffeemakers, the Hamilton Beach 43253 Ensemble has a wide karaff that helps to ensure that no coffee is spilled when pouring the first cup.
One bad point about this coffee is that the brew cycle cannot be adjusted for coffee strength. This means that if you want a stronger cup of coffee, you will have to either add more coffee grounds or use a stronger blend.
In conclusion, I would strongly recommend this coffee maker to anyone, be it for personal use or business purposes. The price is also really reasonable considering it cost around $30 to purchase on Amazon. It’s easy to clean, fast, produces decent coffee and has a 1-year warranty. What else do you need? If you have been reading my blog, you know that I love waking up to the smell of invigorating coffee wafting through my house in the morning air. Thanks to the Hamilton Beach 47665 BrewStation Plus, I continue smelling my favorite smell at our family holiday house during the summers.
Wonder why it is called a “BrewStation”? It is because there is no carafe attached to it. Instead, it has an insulated coffee tank that retains the brew temperature that keeps coffee warm and delicious until served.

No Carafe, No Mess
We love the fact that the Hamilton Beach 47665 does not have a carafe that can results in spills and drips that will stain the table cloth or kitchen top. With this coffee maker, your mug-full of coffee is dispensed straight from the coffee maker itself. My mom is quite happy that she doesn’t have the extra mess to clean up and the fuss of serving everyone’s morning coffee around the kitchen. One of the plus of this feature is that you can virtually dispense any amount of coffee into your mug – regardless of its size!
Another plus of having coffee being insulated inside its body is that your coffee will not be over roasted which often leave you with coffee that has a burnt bitter taste to it. Your coffee will stay warm until you dispense it from the enclosed tank. This will ensure that your coffee stays warm without compromising the freshness and taste.
The coffee made with this coffee maker is not one of the strongest I have had. However, the its mild taste and intensity is rather perfect when you are actually sharing it with a lot of people – so it is not too weak for those who like it strong and not too strong for those who prefer a more ‘mellow’ taste.
Faulty Units?
Although our unit came out perfect from the shipping box, some users say that they have received units that have minor faults. Most of them had leaky water tanks that will leave a huge mess on your kitchen top.
Some people also complained that they get the “plastic coffee” taste from this coffee maker despite the fact that they have run through 2 cycles of water. They also complain that the water has a film of oil even after a few cycles. For your information, if you will get the film of oil, your coffee will probably still taste like plastic.
Tips and Tricks
Here’s one way for you to avoid a messy wet mess in your kitchen. Before you use the Hamilton Beach 47665, check to see if all the screws are tightened properly, especially the ones around the heating plate where it is screwed to the bottom of the water tank. A word of caution: try not to strip the hole when you are tightening the screws. That will probably cause a new set of mishaps (one that I may not be willing to take for the sake of this review).
When we first got this coffee maker, we ran the recommended 2 cycles of water and 2 more with white vinegar. We then run a few more cycles so that our coffee will not taste vinegarish (eeeww!). Alternatively, you can use tea!
The Hamilton Beach 47665 Brew Station receives a mix of good and bad reviews from its users. Personally, I think with some minor adjustments, it is a great coffee maker to own and experience with. If you’re still reluctant, perhaps the almost 50% discount on this coffee maker will nudge you into buying it!
